► About WCTSU
About WCTSU
Worcester College of Technology’s (WCT) Students’ Union (SU) is an organisation ran by a group of volunteer students for the benefit of all the students at WCT. Whether you are a fulltime, a part-time, a mature, a international or a disabled student, The Union is here to help.
You automatically become a member of the Union when you enrol at he start of your course. This entitles you to all the services the Union provide. These include its campaigns, its social events and the chance to buy an NUS Extra discount card, as WCTSU is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS).
The Union’s number one task is to ensure that you have the best experience possible whilst you are completing your studies. They do this primarily by acting as the student voice. They listen to your opinions and concerns and communicate them to the College in order to achieve positive student led improvements.
Another great thing about the Union is that you the students can get involved as much as you like . . .
The Executive Committee
This is a board of 9 students who volunteer to run the union in their free time. To become a member of the Exec you have to run in the election and get people to vote for you. By-elections will take place in October and there are still slots to fill. So if you are interested let us know and hopefully we can find a place for you.
Through Campaigns.
The Students’ Union run and support various local and national campaigns that reflect the diverse nature of students at college, so if there is anything you are particularly passionate about ask us, we might be too.
We also run campiagns to deliver information to students on issues that might affect them or their Education. This includes everything from Top-up Fees to Chlamydia.
Social Events.
We run a number of Social events throughout the year, By attending you show support for the union and you also get to meet new people and have fun at the same time. Look out for events coming up online!
Fundraising
You can help raise money for local as well as national charities. This is often done in conjunction with the social events.
The Learner Voice
Most importantly you can help by just speaking to us and letting us know what you want from us and/or the College.
